Good makeup usually takes time. Like, a lot. Sigh. So, if you are short on time and regularly apply makeup, here are some tips to ensure you can still achieve the look you want in a fraction of the time.
Everyone has a different daily makeup routine. A makeup or facial feature that is a major concern to some may be negligible for others, so keep in mind that you should only do what you think is important and necessary to look your absolute best!
Dot an eyebrow pencil onto those few sparse areas of your eyebrows if you are in a rush but enjoy polished eyebrows. Once they are evened out, coat with a tinted eyebrow gel or clear mascara for a natural (and awesome!) look.
If you don’t have the time to apply mascara well, and don’t find it absolutely necessary to color your lashes differently, consider investing in an eyelash curler. Curled lashes frame and define eyes in ways similar to mascara, minus the color. Curling is a cool way to open up your eyes.
Maybe you did not get enough sleep, but you would prefer not to be told that you look tired all day. Slap on some peach-colored concealer to your eyelids and under eye area to hide any darkness. The peach color swept under your eyes will brighten them as well. Add a touch of translucent powder and a coat of mascara to ensure you look fresh and well-rested!
There are hundreds of different lip products currently on the market, and many claim to do different things. There is lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner, lip balm and lip moisturizer, to name a few. Find something that combines highlighting some of your favorite lip features in one product, like a lip gloss crayon. Go with whatever works for you. That way, you can have all the color, highlights and moisture you want all at once! Something wine-colored on your lips creates a soft and diffused look on your face.
Always mix your tinted foundation with moisturizer to create a more natural appearance and to save time. The moisturizer sheers out any foundation. This will give you a beautiful base and make any colors on your face truly pop.
Oftentimes people do not find eyeliner important enough to put on in a hurry. It takes a long time and many choose to skip it. Next time, try tightlining to save some precious minutes and make your eyes appear larger. With a dark brown or black waterproof brush or pencil, look down into your mirror and add liner to the upper lash line from underneath your lashes into the waterline. Basically, you are applying color directly where your lashes are growing out of your skin. Hello eyes! They will look effortlessly more wide-open.
Be sure to finish up with some powder spread evenly over your face with a big, fluffy brush. This will keep everything in place so you don’t have to stress about your quickly made up face all day.
Why not take some of the stress away with a perfect (and snappy!) makeover from the artists at Zano Salons? We accommodate last-minute appointments to help you quickly and easily stay on top of your game!
With the new year in swing, everyone is getting right down to business on his or her New Year’s resolutions. Whether it’s working on your fitness, getting more involved in the community, or cleaning and re-organizing your home, you’re busy! All this running around leaves little time for makeup.
But, when you’re in a jam to get out the door, there ARE some simple makeup tricks that save you time and give you a fresh face for other important events in your schedule. Especially if you’re the person that is always late no matter how hard you try (guilty as charged), these tips are lifesavers!
Mascara & Lipstick
Sweeping your lashes with a thicker coating of mascara takes you from tired to bright-eyed and bushy tailed. Even without eyeliner, mascara accentuates and draws attention to your eyes. A bold lip – like red, plum, or pink – also creates the illusion that you put a lot of effort into your look, despite the fact that the only other thing you might be wearing is mascara. It can take you from “I just woke up 10 minutes ago” to “Yes, I am going to an award show later” in 60 seconds.
Tend To Your Brows
These days, everyone is obsessed with having thick brows. That doesn’t mean they should go ungroomed. Filling in your brows and ensuring they’re cleaned up makes a world of difference in framing your face and opening up your eyes. Fill in your brows with a pencil, then apply a gel to keep them in place. Add some mascara, and you’ll be good to go!
Prime & Conceal
Primer is a quick, sure-fire way to prep your skin for makeup and helps your foundation settle into your skin, eliminating the need for reapplication. It also helps even out your skin, so even if you don’t have time to dab on foundation, your skin will still appear fresh and put together. If you have dark circles, adding a simple under eye concealer helps you look more awake. You’ll also feel reassured that your dark circles are not bringing down other makeup you’ve put on.
Be reasonable. There’s no need to skip a meal or a shower in favor of full-on makeup. Take your shower, dry your hair, eat breakfast, and focus on makeup elements that you would feel naked without putting on. If you don’t feel complete without a full brow, start there and know when to stop. Forgo unnecessary extras to save time, but bring some with you in case you do have a couple of spare minutes when you arrive at your destination. However, if you don’t, you’ll still be pleased with your appearance.
Keeping up with personal hygiene is also key to providing your face with a healthy, solid foundation on which to put makeup. Skimping on your skincare routine will do you more harm than good in the end: the presence of oils and dirt promotes blemishes, which do not make for easy makeup application.

This season is momentous for many reasons, including dedicated time with family and many causes for celebrations. A new year brings feelings of renewal and change. This is why we see countless customers coming in for a new look. Whether it’s highlights, lowlights, or a completely different hair color and cut, the new year is a great time to try something different and amp up your style.
We have another amazing way to rejuvenate for the holidays and new year: a hydrolifting facial. Visit a beauty salon or spa in Downtown Naperville, Batavia, Naperville-Ogden, or Lisle, Illinois to receive a facial treatment.
What Is Hydrolifting
Hydrolifting facials are one of the newest therapies for more glowing, hydrated, and youthful-looking skin. This is perfect for before a holiday work party, wedding, or NYE celebration where you know cameras will be on you – and with such glorious skin, why wouldn’t they be?
Hydrolifting gives customers the benefits of fillers without the scalpel. It’s meant to erase dull and sagging skin through the infusion of hydrolifting, skin-identical hyaluronic acid microdroplets into your face. The result is replenished, firm, plumped-out skin with a natural lift. The facial also helps promote increased hydrobalance and collagen-forming abilities.
How Does It Work?
Although it has five progressive steps, a hydrolifting facial begins similarly to a regular facial. After you’ve wrapped yourself in the given robe or cover-up and laid down on the table, the esthetician will usually wrap your hair in a towel. He or she will then cleanse your skin with esthetic wipes or sponges. Sometimes, a double-cleanse is preferred.
The esthetician will likely take a look at your skin under a bright magnifying lamp to identify the source of acne, blackheads, aging, sun damage, or dehydration. Depending on what skin type you have (normal, oily, dry, sensitive, or a combination), it will help the esthetician discern and recommend the best treatments for you. Next: steaming. Most – if not all – facials use a machine that sprays a thin layer of warm mist to your face. It’s not only relaxing, but helps loosen up blackheads and whiteheads to be removed.
The Hydrolifting Mask
Zano’s utilizes world-renowned product line G.M. Collins for its facial treatments, including hydrolifting. The hydrolift process is divided up into five steps:
- Hydrolifting fluid
- Restorative cream
- Toning mask
- Tensor concentrate
First, the esthetician will treat your face with an exfoliant. Proper exfoliation helps scrub off dead skin cells and promotes blood circulation to your face to achieve healthier, glowing skin. Next comes the hydrolifting fluid. The hydrolifting fluid is essential to hydrating your skin on a micro-level and encouraging elasticity. The restorative cream follows to allow the fluid to settle, further moisturizing your skin and preparing for the toner. The toning mask is left on for at least 10 minutes to activate the toning and collagen-boosting nutrients. A heated compress, such as a netted facial cloth, is then used to remove the mask and open up your pores. Lastly, the tensor concentrate is applied. The concentrate soaks into your skin to polish it and solidify the effects of the previous nourishments.
Who are Hydrolifting Facials For?
Basically: anyone! If you have mild to moderate sagging, under eye circles, or just overall lackluster skin, you could benefit from a hydrolifting facial. This is an anti-aging treatment, so if you’re younger, you probably won’t notice the benefits as much. But, you’re on the right track: it’s proven that starting an anti-aging regimen in your 20’s or 30’s is effective and helps your skin be more adaptable as years go by. The great thing is, if you don’t like it or don’t notice a difference, you can drop it for another skincare routine that works for you. Whichever you decide, staying consistent is key!

The combination of teenagers and cosmetics is like betting on Secretariat: it’s a sure thing. Social media has only intensified the industry by increasing the awareness, accessibility, and perceived importance of beauty products for all ages. The line between “teenage” and “adult” makeup and hair services turns blurrier by the day.
However, there are some aspects that distinguish teenagers from adults (as far as beauty care goes). Here are some Zano’s services that are perfect for teenagers!
Treat Skin Conditions
A teenager’s skin is going through significant hormonal changes that make it particularly sensitive and prone to irritations like acne. In fact, of the 85 percent of young adults between the ages of 12 and 24 who suffer from acne, 25 percent will develop permanent scars from it. This means that in addition to a skin care/acne treatment regimen, teenagers should carefully consider what kinds of makeup they’re applying to their faces. Oil-free foundations with sunscreens will provide protection from damaging UV rays and oils that contribute to breakouts.
A good habit to instill in your teens early is to get facials on at least a semi-regular basis. Schedule a facial to promote healthy practices and reduce stress before a big test, game, or college interview. Teaching teens the value of aging gracefully by taking care of their skin is a key to building one’s confidence in their natural features.
A specialty of Zano’s is our spa parties. A spa party is fun no matter your age, but for teens it’s a nice way to treat yourselves in a way you wouldn’t normally – unless mom is paying. You can choose from any combination of services we have; or, if you simply can’t make up your mind, you can choose our Express Service package. This includes:
- Express* Pedicure (30-minute)
- Manicure (30-minute) Natural Nails Only; Excludes SHELLAC™
- Express* Facial (30-minute)
- 30 Minute Massage
- Hair Blow Out (does not include flat or curling iron)
Whether it’s a Sweet Sixteen, Prom, Graduation, or the end of college applications, a spa party is a perfect way to celebrate or cap off the school year.
What is high school without dances, plays, concerts, or ceremonies? Between homework and extracurricular activities like sports, your hair can either take a beating or a backseat to proper care. For once, wouldn’t it be nice to not have to worry about your hair? Driver’s license photo? Yes, please. Zano’s has great hair styling and blowout services for teens that will help complete your look and make you feel fancified for a special occasion.
In the mood to try something different? Now’s the time to do it! Zano’s has special deals for highlights, color, and cuts for teens that will make it easy to have a signature style without spending a ton of money.
Speaking of fair prices: in creating its Teen options, Zano’s took time to make sure prices were affordable for teenagers. You may have a part-time, summer, or babysitting job, but you should be saving up for other life events soon approaching, like your first car or college classes. Zano’s has special teen prices for both guys and girls that will make not just teens, but parents happy. As one of the best salons in the area with award-winning services, you’ll be sure you’re getting your money’s worth!
Your wedding day is the ultimate occasion to show off your style and personality. The hairstyle you choose is a part of that. No matter what your day has in store for you, your hair and makeup should be able to keep up and highlight, not take away from, your natural beauty. Zano Salons makes this process easy by offering on-site bridal services and blow dry styling options with clear pricing.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with countless beautiful brides on their big days. It’s in that time we’ve discovered some timeless truths that will help you be the timeless bride you wish to be. Follow these tips to make sure you truly get the look you want on your wedding day.
START WITH A PICTURE
Oftentimes, it’s hard to articulate something that lives in your mind. This is why stylists suggest bringing two to three photos of hairstyles that resemble your vision to your trial. It will be much easier for your stylist to pick up the feel you’re going for, make further recommendations, and save time trying to “guess and check” what you like.
PLAN AROUND YOUR ACCESSORIES AND DRESS
What makes your wedding look special is the attention to the details that make it your own unique look. Is there something you’d definitely like to wear on your wedding day, like a headband, tiara or flower crown? Does your dress harken back to a certain time period? Incorporating those aspects into your hairstyle will not only play up your wedding theme, but your personality as well. However, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
WASH YOUR HAIR THE DAY BEFORE
Although you want to be clean and fresh for your wedding day, it’s recommended to avoid showering the night before. Shampooing and conditioning your hair removes essential oils that build up in your hair that will help your style hold. Clean hair tends to have a slippery consistency that makes curling it a chore. Styling your hair with slightly more natural greases will make your hair more adaptable and save time.
HAVE A HAIR/MAKEUP TRIAL AT LEAST 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THE BIG DAY
This is the time to work out all the kinks (literally). You’re going to be able to see not only how your style will look on your wedding day, but how it will feel. If you don’t like it, it’ll be easy for your stylist to come with another option and get to know which products to use based on your needs, the environment, and flow of your wedding. Make sure you consider all angles, as well: your style should highlight all sides of your face so that your photographer can get great shots from all sides.
There’s no day like your wedding day to be bold. However, there is such a thing as too bold. It’s not recommended to significantly change your color or cut right before your wedding. It’s not worth the potential stress you’ll feel trying to combine your new look with decisions you’ve already made.
ENSURE IT’S WEATHERPROOF
Never count on perfect weather for your wedding day in the Midwest. Even if it’s summertime, you just never know. Consider the environment your wedding is in: is it indoors, outdoors, or both? What kinds of elements are your hair and makeup going to be exposed to? If you are the bride, it ultimately comes down to whatever makes you comfortable. That being said, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep a kit in your limo or at the church during pictures with extra hairspray, bobby pins, or clips to fix last-minute flyaways.
BE OPEN TO RECOMMENDATIONS
Chances are, your stylist has dealt with brides in similar situations. Whether they’ve been rained on, snowed on, burned by the sun, or windblown, hair and makeup artists have seen it all. This not only pertains to weather, but in times of conflict resolution, it’s nice to have someone on your side. Getting his or her feedback on what they would recommend based on your desired look, hair type, wedding theme, or location will put you more at ease and even open you up to options you didn’t know you had.
